Z’s Winterizing Tips

Do you store your bike for the winter? If you do, you don’t want to simply tuck it into the corner of the garage and leave it there until the temp reaches the high 70′s again.

There are some things you will want to do to ensure a quality winter storage and keep your bike happy and healthy for years to come.

Here’s a few winterizing tips from Z.

1. Keep a full charge on your battery. Hook it up to a Battery Tender and leave it plugged in.
2. Add a Fuel Stabilizer to keep the gas from going bad.
3. Do an oil change and new filter to keep old nasty oil from settling in the engine. Nice fresh oil makes an engine happy for hibernation.
4. Put it up on stands. Having a bike sit in one spot all winter can flatten out a spot on the tire and trash the tire. Lift that puppy up on stands and save the tires. (not that we mind selling you new tires next spring, but we’re trying to help you out here)
5. Check and top off all fluids. That’s sort of a no-brainer.
6. Lubricant (such as 6 in 1) on all pivot joints.
7. And Lube all cables with a cable luber.
8. If applicable, drain carbs.
